Volunteer Coach Information - Coaches needed!
Never coached or even played soccer before? - no problem - we train! Here’s how to become a coach in AYSO Region 86 Laguna Beach. It’s free! And it's fun!
FIRST: Log in to your AYSO Region 86 account (use the Login button above) and register as a volunteer for the current Membership Year (MY). Make sure you E-sign (electronically sign) your on-line volunteer application. (Note: there is a section of the on-line volunteer application that requests a fee payment for background check. Make sure you DO NOT select the payment option unless you wish to basically donate the fee so the Region does not have to pay for it.)
SECOND: Take the following online courses at the AYSO University (use the AYSOU tab above). Log in using the same credentials that you set up when registering your children (or yourself as a volunteer). Click on “Online Courses” in the banner, then scroll down the page to access the appropriate training module.
AYSO's Safe Haven
| This is child and volunteer protection training required by all AYSO volunteers.

|

12U Coaching Pre-Course
| If you are coaching 12 year olds and under, take this course. 6U, 8U, 10U are also recommended.
|
Intermediate Coaching Pre-Course
| If you are coaching 14 year olds and under, take this course. 6U, 8U, 10U are also recommended. 12U required before moving to Intermediate.
|
Advanced Coaching Pre-Course
| If you are coaching 16-18 year olds and under, take this course. 6U, 8U, 10U are also recommended. 12U required before moving to Intermediate. Intermediate required before moving to Advanced.
|
If coaching 6U or 8U, you are done with required training. Skip to the last step below. For the higher divisions, do all the above first - you MUST finish the online training before you take the "in-person" coaching course! (That’s because the "in-person" course builds heavily on the material presented in the online course.)
THIRD: Sign up for and attend an "in-person" coach course. To sign up, use the AYSOU tab above and select "In-Person Courses" in the banner. Open the "Coach Instructor Lead Courses" folder. Open the appropriate course folder for the division you are coaching (10U Field Session Only, 12U, Intermediate, or Advanced) and find a course to sign up for. You may have to click on the "Sessions" button to see all available sessions. This lists all available courses everywhere AYSO exists, from Hawaii to the East Coast. So be sure you sign up for one that you can physically attend. All local training in our Region and Area should be listed. Click on this link for local training courses offered in our Area.
ALTERNATE OPTION: You may sign up for the full, instructor-lead, coach courses that do not require the on-line portion. Follow the same instructions above in AYSOU and look for "6U, 8U, 10U, 12U Coach" folders. In this case, only the on-line Save Haven and Concussion Awareness training needs to be completed in addition to this course. Click on this link for local training courses offered in our Area.
LASTLY and for MORE INFORMATION: Send Email to the Regional Coach Administrator ([email protected]) to let him/her know you have completed training or for questions and he/she will give you further instruction on coaching a team.
